Barr competing in Olympic final today

Ireland's hopes of a third Olympic medal are resting on Waterford's Thomas Barr, who's set to run in the 400m hurdles final in the Rio later.

It's been 84 years since an Irish athlete last took part in the event – Tipperary's Bob Tisdall took Gold in Los Angeles in 1932.

Barr won his semi final yesterday and set a new Irish record in the process.

His mum Martina says Thomas battled injuries before this year's games.
