Autumn festivals across the Premier this weekend

Thurles, Roscrea and Nenagh, along with other areas, are hosting events with something for everyone.

There's a host of choice for people in the Premier this weekend looking for something to do.

Tomorrow the Thurles Harvest Festival will go ahead – the event was originally due to take place over the August Bank Holiday but due to a power outage it had to be cancelled at the last minute.

Gates at the Thurles Greyhound Stadium open at 11.30 tomorrow with music, games and prizes on offer – money raised on the day will be donated to local charities.

Meanwhile in Roscrea, the annual Soapbox Derby will also take place tomorrow.

There are 42 entries to the event which gets underway at 2.30 at Convent Hill in the North Tipp town.

In Nenagh, a holistic fair takes place at the Abbey Court tomorrow, while Boru Tri Club and some fellow swimmers will be participating in the Swim version of Hansel and Gretel with boats in Lough Derg

A group of strong swimmers with good arms, big feet and absolutely no sense will be taken upstream approximately 3km in boats, then they will dive into the Shannon and swim back down the 3km to the Bridge exiting outside Flanagans in Ballina.

Meanwhile, the Borrisokane threshing and country living festival in Terryglass has been cancelled due to the bad weather.
