Appointment of Senior Dietician to Mid-West Regional will benefit North Tipp children.

The hiring of a Senior Dietician to work at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital will greatly benefit children in Tipperary according to Deputy Michael Lowry.

The HSE Mid-West advertised the position this week.

Deputy Lowry points out that whilst the funding was made available at the beginning of the year it is not secure until the appointment is actually made.

His fear was that should this post not be filled by the end of the year the budget set aside to improve paediatric diabetes services in the Mid-West would be lost.

According to the North Tipp Independent T.D the allocation of this post will make it possible to roll out insulin pump therapy to children with diabetes across North Tipperary, Limerick and Clare.

At present there are around 40 children across the three counties that are forced to travel to Dublin hospitals for the care they require.
