Appeal made following fatal N24 crash

The road will remain closed for some hours as Gardaí carry out an examination of the scene.

The horrific head-on crash on the main Tipperary – Limerick road happened at around 8.30 this morning.

The collision between a truck and a car happened near Brook's Bridge on the Tipperary side of Pallasgreen.

The male driver of the car – believed to be in his mid-20s – and a 3 year old child who was a passenger in the vehicle died in the collision.

Post mortem examinations will be carried out at University Hospital Limerick later.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The N24 will remain closed between Oola and Pallasgreen well into the afternoon to facilitate a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have travelled that stretch of the N24 between 8 and 8.30 this morning to contact the Gardaí at Bruff on 061 382940, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
