Appeal for witnesses to Dublin hit & run

Gardai are investigating the death of a toddler in a hit and run in the Phoenix Park in Dublin yesterday.

A 24-year-old man is being held at Blanchardstown station after the two-year-old girl was knocked down on the North Road at around 6:30pm yesterday evening.

The little girl was taken to Temple Street Hospital where she died overnight.

Reporter with The Herald, Conor Feehan, says she was from the Blanchardstown area but her parents are Polish.

“The little girl who died would have been born in Ireland to Polish parents, who we believe run a business in Dublin and live in the Blanchardstown area” he said.

Gardai are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen the car involved, an 02 D registration green Toyota Corolla, driving erratically near the Visitors Centre or in the general Phoenix Park area before the crash.
