Anti Coursing Bill before the Dail

Independent Deputy Maureen O'Sullivan is bringing a Private Member's Bill on the issue today calling the practice cruel.

She says there is documentary proof from National Park and Wildlife rangers about the level of injuries coursing causes to hares. However supporters of the sport dismiss this adding the national meeting in Clonmel generates 6 million euro for the local economy.

The bill will be voted on next week but is likely to be defeated as TDs will have to vote on party lines.
