The HSE has issued a national directive to cut Home Care Packages and reduce home help hours as a matter of urgency.
Area manager of Family Carers Ireland in Tipperary Richie Molloy says the news came as a bolt out of the blue given the cutbacks carers have already suffered.
He says whoever takes over as Minister for Health will have to reverse these latest moves.
