Amount of robberies still too high

Campaigners against rural crime in Tipperary say the levels of robberies across the county are still too high.

Save our Local Community met with Tipperary's public representatives last night to push for more action and resources to tackle the issue.

Chairman of ‘Save our Local Community’ action group Robert O'Shea there on the reasons behind their individual meetings with the 5 Oireachtas members yesterday evening.

The group was set up last year in the wake of massive public outcry over roving criminal gangs targeting farmyards.

Despite a meeting with the Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald late last year, President of the group and solicitor Kieran Cleary says not much has changed.

All five Oireachtas members have pledged their support to the Save Our Local Community action group, chairman Robert O'Shea says they're determined to keep the issue of rural crime on the agenda.
