The Clonmel native was proposed by party colleague Roger Kennedy and seconded by Michael Anglim at the AGM of the local authority this morning.
A counter proposal was made by the Sinn Fein and Independents Group…they nominated Martin Lonergan

Speaking to Tipp FM’s North Tipperary Correspondent after today’s vote Clr Ambrose said that job creation, enterprise and innovation were her top priorities.
Meanwhile Fine Gael’s Louise McLoughlin was elected as Leas Cathaoirleach by 30 votes to 9.
Pat English was proposed under the D’Hondt system but defeated in the vote.
