Almost 20,000 people become trapped in Laois maze

They have been educated on some of the biggest dangers on Irish farms and reminded to farm safely.

Agri-aware is operating the giant maze at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska.

Its director Vanessa Woods says 21 people have died in farm accidents so far this year.

“People are under time pressure a lot these days, there's lots of work to be dope at certain times of the year” she said.

“There might be visitors to the farms, the children might like to come down and be involved – the children should be supervised at all times, you can't take anything for granted”.

“So my message is think before you act, and just be aware of the potential dangers” she added.
