If given the green light the project would be a major boost for the area which has been hit by 100 job losses at the Tipperary Water facility.
The proposals from LKD Developments are for a purpose built nursing home on Pallas Street in Borrisoleigh.
They have submitted an application to Tipperary County Councils planning department for the 86 bedroom two-storey building on the grounds of the former Convent of Mercy which is a protected structure.
The Cavan based company intend to purchase the property subject to permission being granted for the nursing home – it is presently owned by T&P Tipper Hire Ltd of Dunraymond in Monaghan.
If the €10 million investment gets the green light from the local authority it would lead to a welcome jobs boost during the 12 month construction phase.
LKD Developments say when complete the nursing home would provide 50 jobs and would cater for elderly, convalescence and step-down care.
A decision is due from Tipperary Council by mid May.
