90 year old Paddy Lyons was found dead at his home in Ballysaggart, near Lismore last Saturday.
Gardaí say a 26 year old man will appear at Dungarvan District Court this morning.
Meanwhile as part of the investigation a search of a house and land on the outskirts of Clonmel is set to resume later this morning.
Gardaí sealed off the property on the Waterford Road on Monday evening.
