The latest figures from the Department of Social Protection show that 923 people under 26 are unemployed for six months or more.

In Dublin there are over 4,000 young people classified as long term unemployed.

Nationally there are over 11,000 people under the age of 26 in the same predicament.

The National Youth Council of Ireland says the number is far too high.

Deputy Director, James Doorley is calling for the issue to be addressed in the Budget.
