600 new positions to be filled by ambulance service

It's after SIPTU called off strike action due to take place next week after they reached a deal with the HSE at the Workplace Relations Commission yesterday.

150 new emergency technicians for the Intermediate Care Service will be taken on over the next two years along with 461 additional paramedics over the next five years.

SIPTU's Health Division Organiser, Paul Bell says his members will also receive payments due to them as a result of changes to their work practices.
