More than 100 jobs have been announced for Waterford.

Bosch and Lomb is creating the positions to help expand the company’s contact lens portfolio.

The Taoiseach and Tanaiste officially opened an 85 million euro expansion of the firm this afternoon.

Bausch and Lomb is an eye health company which has been in Waterford for almost 40 years.

It manufactures contact lenses and this year it estimates it will make over a billion of them

Leo Varadkar said it’s a job boost for more than just Waterford.

This jobs announcement will bring the total workforce at Baush and Lomb to 1 thousand 3 hundred.

It’s a good news day for the area as there have been concerns for the workforce when parent company Valeant Pharmaceuticals announced some redundancies..

Bausch and Lomb says the extension is due to a global demand for daily disposable contact lenses.

Business , Enterprise and Innovation Minister Francis Fitzgerald says this type of innovation is what will help companies thrive through Brexit.

Baush and Lomb says today’s announcement shows their commitment to working and growing in Waterford for years to come.
