The number of patients without a bed at Tipperary’s main hospital has fallen significantly over the last few days.

It peaked on Tuesday when there were 41 patients being cared for on corridors around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards at South Tipp General.

Today there are 17 patients waiting for a bed in the Clonmel hospital.

However frontline staff at University Hospital Limerick are still under pressure today – according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation there are 36 people being cared for on trolleys or chairs.

Nationally there are 369 people without a bed today.
