Tipp Off Licence operator calling for mandatory training.

The need for mandatory training of staff is being highlighted by Tipperary alcohol retailers.

The National Off Licence Association is calling on the Government to introduce such measures as a matter of urgency.

Last year the association launched an online learning programme to upskill workers.

So far 269 people have been trained through the initiative.

Among them is Pat Keller who has Off Licences in Nenagh and Roscrea.

He says the sale of alcohol carries a lot of responsibility describing the trade as being legalised drug dealing.
