Three more arrested in connection with Manchester bombing

Three more people have been arrested in connection with the Manchester bombing.

It comes after the UK’s terror threat level was escalated to ‘critical’ – a move which will see armed soldiers patrol the streets.

Meanwhile, the identities of many of the victims of Monday’s bombing are becoming clearer.

From Manchester, Richard Chambers reports.

A Tipperary woman has been describing her experience in Manchester in the days following the bombing.

Marisa Kennedy, from Lorrha, has been living in Manchester and attending the University of Salford for the past five months.

Some of the buildings in the University were evacuated last night around the time of the vigil due to the discovery of a suspect package, just across the road from her residence.

Speaking on Tipp Today she says that there is fear and shock amongst the community in Manchester.

The Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council Siobhan Ambrose has opened a Book of Condolence at the Civic Offices, Clonmel in solidarity with the people of Manchester and in memory of the victims of Monday night’s terror attack at the Manchester Arena.

Similar Books of Condolence will also be available at the Council’s Civic Offices in Nenagh and at its Municipal District offices in Thurles, Tipperary and Carrick-on-Suir.

They will remain open for one week.

A minutes silence was observed at todays meeting of the Templemore – Thurles Municipal District.

Cathaoirleach of Joe Bourke is encouraging people to come and sign them to show solidarity with the victims and the people of Manchester.

Members of the public will also have the opportunity to sign the Book of Condolence online via the Council website at www.tipperarycoco.ie
