A man remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning following an assault in County Offaly.
The man – who's in his 50's – sustained serious head injuries during the attack which occurred on the Main street in Birr at around 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
He was air lifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition is described as serious.
A 17 year old male was arrested in connection with the incident – he's being held at Birr Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
