Possible strike action at MSD in Ballydine

Negotiations are underway in a bid to avert possible strike action at one of Tipperary's leading employers.

32 members of the TEEU are threatening action later this month.

Technical Engineering and Electrical Union members served official notice of their intention to begin industrial at MSD's Ballydine plant near Kilsheelan to the company earlier this month.

A spokesperson for MSD – which employs 450 people in Tipperary – told Tipp FM this afternoon that the action is not related to the national dispute involving electricians from the same union.

The company claim this dispute has arisen as a result of the TEEU members at the Ballydine refusing to engage in ongoing change as part of their 3 year pay agreement which came into effect last year.

Talks between both the union and MSD are believed to be ongoing in a bid to avert the threatened strike.

This could lead to a strike by 32 members of the union from Monday February 24th.
