Under the Succession Act of 1965, a person may not inherit any part of the estate of a person whom he or she has murdered, or attempted to murder.
But difficulties have arisen – where a person has killed their spouse, who they jointly owned a property with – such as the family home.
The Law Reform Commission's made 24 recommendations in its report to change this.
