Climbers rescued from Mount Everest

Aid workers say they urgently need to get supplies to remote villages in Nepal – some of which have been completely cut off since Saturday's earthquake.

More than 4,000 people are known to have died in the disaster, while a small number of Irish citizens are among those who haven't yet been accounted for.

Mike Lansfield is Plan Ireland's Head of Sponsorship – he says rescue crews are working against the clock to help those affected by the disaster.

All of the climbers who had been stranded at camps high up Mount Everest by the earthquake and avalanches have been brought to safety by helicopter.
