At least 10 Egyptian soldiers, including a colonel, have been killed and several others injured, in two suicide attacks on army checkpoints.
No one’s claimed responsibility for the explosions outside the town of Rafah in northern Sinai.
The army later said in a statement that security forces had killed 40 militants and destroyed six of their vehicles following the attack.
