Consumers Groups hit out at VHI price hike

The Consumers Association of Ireland is hitting out at a hike in VHI premiums.

From the 1st of March the cost of its healthcare plans will go up by an average of 3 percent.

VHI says it’s due to a new charge on private patients using public hospital beds, which was introduced at the start of the year.

Vice Chairman of the CAI, Michael Kilcoyne says customers can no longer afford private health cover.
