People across Tipperary appear to have heeded the warnings and stayed indoors awaiting the arrival of Storm Emma.

A blanket snow covers the Premier County this morning but Gardaí report no incidents overnight with very few people out and about.

The Status Red weather alert remains in place for Tipperary until 6 o’clock this evening.

Sub-zero temperatures and significant snow accumulations are expected throughout the day.

Everyone’s being reminded to stay indoors until the worst of the weather passes.

Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton explains how the storm will develop this morning.
