Tipperary book collection to go up for auction

Hundreds of books collected in the 18th century by a Tipperary landowner are to be auctioned next week.

Richard Moore was High Sheriff for Tipperary and lived at Barne House near Clonmel in the 18th century.

The books are to be auctioned individually and could fetch up to quarter of a million Euro.

Born in 1716, Richard Moore was an avid collector of books – the vast collection has remained at Barne House down through the years.

They will now go under the hammer at Mealy's in Dublin next week.
