Tipp one of few counties to fill Gateway places

The initiative was introduced by the Department of Social Protection to bridge the gap between unemployment and re-entering the workforce with 3000 placements up for grabs.

So far just over 70 positions have been filed – including 10 through the local authorities in Tipperary which were allocated 80 spots.

Positions were also filled in Limerick, Fingal and Louth but the delays are being put down to a number of factors including garda vetting and restructuring within councils.
