Tipp drivers urged to be extra vigilant on roads

Nine people have lost their lives on the county's roads so far this year with the August Bank Holiday traditionally one of the most dangerous weekends of the year.

There are several festivals and events going on for the last bank holiday of the summer season and Gardaí say there will be additional checkpoints across the Premier targetting drink driving, seatbelts, speed and mobile phone usage.

Head of the Tipperary Traffic Corps Inspector Eddie Golden says if you're planning on going out, ensure you get a legitimate taxi home.
