Tipp county council call to have Sign Language recognised

At present the Government doesn't consider ISL to be a language even though around 5,00 deaf people in Ireland use it on a daily basis.

As National Irish Sign Language Awareness Week comes to a close Tipperary County Councillor Andy Moloney says every effort needs to be made to ensure deaf children are given every opportunity in school.

Funding for  community services in Tipp announced
Funding has been announced for a number of community services in Tipperary.
Four not-for-profit companies in the Premier County are to benefit from a total of almost €124 thousand between them.

The projects to be funded are NIPARC Limited in Nenagh who get 19 thousand euro, the Development Association in Newport which has been earmarked for over 28 thousand 500……38 thousand goes to Elm Tree Communities Limited in Clonmel  with a similar amount for Sliabh Ardagh Rural Development Limited. 

Local Minister Alan Kelly has welcomed the allocation under the Community Services Programme.
