Thurles by-pass project appears to have stalled completely

The Cathaoirleach of the Thurles – Templemore Municipal District, Councillor Michael Smith raised the issue with NRA officials at a recent meeting.

However he outlined to this weeks meeting of the District that the message coming back was far from positive with no immediate plans to move the project to the next stage.

Over €1 million has already been spent on route selection with around €500,000 needed for the design stage of the scheme.

Given that the National Roads Authority say the Thurles by-pass is not on their radar Councillor Smith feels political intervention is now needed if any progress is to be made on the Thurles by-pass.
