The 19 year old fell from a third floor apartment balcony at the Dun na Coiribe apartment complex on the Headford Road shortly before half past eleven.
He is believed to be from county Kerry and a first year student of NUIG.

He was initially rushed to University Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
Gardaí say no foul play is suspected.
