Sterling hit a new 31-year-low against the dollar as Asian markets opened this morning.
The pound dropped to less than 1-point-2-9 dollars – that's more than 15 per cent below the levels seen in early trading on the day of the EU referendum.

The pound's continued descent has been put down to concerns that the vote to leave the European Union could hurt the economy.
