South Tipp tops overcrowding list today

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show that once again the situation at South Tipp General is putting increased pressure on both patients and staff.

Meanwhile the number of patients on trolleys or chairs at hospitals across the country is up by almost 100 on yesterday.

35 people are being treated on trolleys and chairs or in overcrowded wards at South Tipperary General Hospital today.

This is the highest figure in the country according to figures from the INMO.

Of these, 28 are on trolleys while in and around the Emergency Department at the Clonmel facility.

7 more are in wards which are already above their stated capacity.

Meanwhile 29 patients who have been admitted from the ED at University Hospital Limerick are still without a bed.

In all there are 410 people being cared for on trolleys and chairs at hospitals across the country – this is up 94 from yesterday's figures.

Beaumont in Dublin has 32 while the Midland Regional in Tullamore has 30.
