Significant rise in IDA-sponsored visits to Tipperary

A total of 12 visits to the Premier County took place in 2015, compared to just 3 the year before.

The IDA has come in for severe criticism from local representatives over the amount of FDI into the county over the last few years.

In 2011, just one potential investor was brought to Tipperary by the IDA…there were 5 visits in 2012, 4 in 2013 and 3 in 2014.

However, last year, the number of companies that visited the Premier County increased significantly with 12 site visits taking place.

Tipperary has had a number of job announcements in recent months, including Amneal in Cashel, Eishtech in Clonmel and First Data in Nenagh…which is the first FDI announcement for the town in 20 years.

Over the last 5 years, there have been almost 2,000 IDA Ireland sponsored site visits by potential investors to various locations throughout the country with Dublin coming out on top with 973 visits since 2011.

242 of those were from last year alone.

Speaking about the figures, Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says the IDA are committed to increasing Foreign Direct Investment outside of the Dublin area.
