Report shows rise in number of people living in poverty

Almost one in five people who are in poverty have a job according to Social Justice Ireland.

The organisation says three quarters of a million people are living below the bread line – that's up 100,000 since before the recession.

Without social welfare payments more than half of Ireland's population would be living in poverty.

Dr Sean Healy is the director of Social Justice Ireland and says not enough has been done in recent years to help those living in poverty.
