Meanwhile rental costs in the Premier County have increased by over 6% in the last year.
Latest figures from property website Daft.ie show the average cost of renting a 3 bedroom house in the Premier County now stands at €608.
A mortgage on a similar property in Tipperary would have a monthly repayment of €393 based on a variable rate of 4.3% over 30 years….a difference of €215 a month compared to renting.
Even allowing for a 2% increase in mortgage rates the cost would still be less than €500 a month.
Meanwhile the average cost of renting a house in Tipperary is now €632 a month – an increase of 6.1% in the last year and up 12% from their lowest point in 2013.
Nationally rents have risen by 9% according to the latest Daft.ie quarterly report at an average of €979 a month with Cork city showing the biggest increase in the last 12 months at 15.4%.
