Rehab CEO Angela Kerins grilled at the PAC

The chief executive of the Rehab Group has defended her salary and says she earns less than the market rate.

Angela Kerins says her salary of 240,000 euro does not come from public funds and should not be discussed at the Public Accounts Committee today.

She says that including the bonuses they have waived, senior managers earn around 20 percent less than their counterparts in the private sector.

And she has told Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald that her basic salary is lower than it could be.

“The base salary is probably about 10 percent” Ms. Kerins said.

Deputy McDonald replied “So that really should be 264, then? So you're underpaid by 24,000”.
