Public meeting to discuss Bansha GP service

The doctor at the health clinic in Bansha, which has over 2,000 patients, is due to retire in the New Year – however no applications to take over the practice have been received by the HSE.

Its feared this is because the application didn't include a Rural Practice Allowance for GPs to offset the costs of running a surgery outside a city area.

Several TDs have now been lobbying the HSE for a reversal of this decision.

Organiser of tonight's meeting in the GAA Hall, Andrew O'Halloran says it's vital that a new doctor takes over the practice to ensure that patients have continuity.
