A protest was held in North Tipp this morning in relation to the condition of a road near Terryglass.

A 1.7 kilometre stretch of the Borrisokane to Terryglass road is so damaged that many now avoid it.

A group of locals held a silent protest in the area to highlight the issue.

They are urging Tipperary County Council to immediately address the need for improvement works, despite the local authority saying it won’t be considered until 2019 at the earliest.

Not only are locals affected, but the road also forms part of the Tipperary Cycle route, which attracts thousands of tourists each year.

Local resident Niall Heenan – who was one of the organisers of todays protest – told Fran curry on Tipp Today that something needs to be done urgently
