President Higgins says he'll use the year 2014 to try and transform Ireland's ethics.
In his Christmas message, President Higgins has sent special good wishes to those who won't be spending Christmas at home.
He says one of the highlights of his presidency so far has been a series of public meetings with Ireland's young people.
