Poll indicates Tánaiste has a battle to keep her seat

The survey, which is published in today's Irish Independent, polled 520 voters and was carried out between the 5th and 8th of February.

The specific constituency poll shows Fine Gael's Leo Varadkar and Sinn Fein's Paul Donnelly on 20 per-cent.

Fianna Fail's Jack Chambers is on 17 per-cent, Ruth Coppinger of the Anti-Austerity Alliance is on 15 per-cent followed by Tánaiste Joan Burton on 10 per-cent.

Group Political Editor of Independent news and media, Kevin Doyle, says the poll shows Joan Burton is more transfer friendly than Ruth Coppinger

However the Labour deputy leader says anyone who underestimates Joan Burton does so at their peril.

Tipperary’s Alan Kelly says that Joan Burton will keep her Dublin West seat and will lead the party into government.

Minister Kelly refused to answer questions over whether he would like to lead the Labour party should Joan Burton lose her seat.

While opinions polls show the Tánaiste faces a battle in Dublin West, but Alan Kelly says they're confident in their leader.
