Another hat thrown in the ring for Tipp’s Fine Gael election nomination

Another potential TD has thrown her hat into the ring to seek the Fine Gael nomination to contest a seat at the next general election.

Ahead of the party’s Declaration of Interest Convention in Tipperary next week, a number of locals have put themselves forward.

With no female TDs representing the party in Munster, Mary Newman, from Lagganstown, New Inn, is the latest candidate to seek the nomination.

She was previously policy officer for Fine Gael in Tipperary, and is also the sister of Dublin TD Kate O’Connell.

Mary Newman says she’s been encouraged by people in the constituency to put herself forward.
