Philip Fenton court case adjourned until May

The case against Tipperary horse trainer Philip Fenton has been adjourned until May.

The 49 year old of Garryduff, South Lodge, Carrick-on-Suir, who is charged with possession of unlicensed animal medicines, was in court today but did not speak.

Philip Fenton is facing eight charges relating to the alleged possession of unlicensed animal remedies including anabolic steroids at his yard at Garryduff on January 18th 2012.

The 49 year old horse trainer was in Carrick on Suir district court today when the case, which is being brought against him by the Department of Agriculture, was mentioned….however, he was not called on to speak.

The state told the court that they wanted an adjournment until May 15 and there was no objection from the defence.

Last month, Mr Fenton’s legal team said they wanted time to prepare legal submissions relating to the charges.

The court heard today that these submissions have been received by the state and are currently with the chief state solicitor’s office for consideration.

Judge Terence Finn agreed to adjourn the case until May 15 and said any “responding submissions” from the state should be forwarded to the court and the defence before that date.
