People from Tipperary urged to giver their views on mother and baby homes

People from Tipperary are being encouraged to put forward their views on which institutions the Government's inquiry into the mother and baby homes should investigate.

Children's Minister Charlie Flanagan has announced a public consultation period people to make submissions on the scope of the inquiry.

Sean Ross Abbey in Roscrea is one of the mother and baby homes that could be included in the investigation.

Independent North Tipperary TD Michael Lowry says that records show that most of the babies born at the Tipperary institution were sent to America for adoption.

It’s understood 438 babies are thought to have gone from Sean Ross to the US – thought to be the second highest of any of the mother and baby homes in the country.
