A new report shows 115 journalists were killed on the job last year – that's one every four-and-a-half days.
UNESCO says the worst hit areas included Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.
It also found there was a sharp increase in the number of online journalists killed in 2015.
Almost half of these were covering the conflict in Syria.
