One in five hospitals require re-inspection, say HIQA

The report, by the Health Information and Quality Authority, shows that patients are being exposed to risk of infection due to poor levels of overall cleanliness in hospitals.

One in five hospitals, inspected in 2015, required a follow-up inspection for poor hygiene and maintenance issues, double the amount the previous year.

The Head of Healthcare with HIQA, Susan Cliffe, says an acceptable standard of basic cleanliness is essential.
