Official election campaigns to be launched today

The economy was the big issue yesterday – with the government parties setting out their stall and the opposition attacking it. 

Day 3 in the race to Leinster House and all the major parties are out in force to officially launch their campaigns.

Sinn Fein launch in Dublin before a walkabout with the party leaders.

Tánaiste Joan Burton will give a keynote speech to the Labour faithful in the afternoon as they also officially launch their campaign.

Enda Kenny – who will continue in his role as Taoiseach during the election – will meet King Abdullah the 2nd of Jordan this morning. 

The Fine Gael tour will then take to Mallow in Cork where they'll announce how they plan to spend 4 billion in capital investment on jobs. 

Michael Martin starts the day in Mitchelstown before heading to Fermoy and Youghal.

While the Social Democrats also kick off their campaign in Dublin.
