Nurses say no ‘quick fix’ for South Tipp overcrowding

The country's main nursing union accepts that there is no quick-fix to the overcrowding problems at South Tipp General.

However the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says a resolution has to be found as soon as possible for the capacity issues at the Clonmel hospital.

There were 41 patients without a bed in a ward there yesterday – making it the busiest hospital in the country.

Mary Power is the INMO industrial relations officer for South Tipp – she says while efforts are being made to improve the situation the hospital simply can't cope with the population it caters for.
