New lease of life on the horizon for Cashel

If given the go ahead the owners will refurbish the existing building as well as adding 40 new bedrooms, two new restaurants, a new spa and a function room capable of catering for 175 people.

The hotel – which has been closed since December 2014 – was bought by the Magnier family and Chinese tycoon Teo Ah Khing just over a year ago.

Independent TD Michael Lowry says the planned work will provide a major jobs boost for the West Tipperary town.

40 full time and 60 part time jobs would come on stream when the hotel is up and running while the construction phase would lead to 100 jobs.
