New Bishop for North Tipp ordained today

Fintan Monaghan, a native of Tullamore will take up the mantle during a ceremony at the Ennis Cathedral later this afternoon. 

The Killaloe Diocese includes 13 parishes in North Tipperary, with students from several schools here including Saint Annes Special School in Roscrea taking part in the ceremony

Saint Mary's Choir in Nenagh along with the Cistercian College Choir Roscrea are also participating. Among the soloists are Aoife Daly from Saint Anne’s Community School, Killaloe, Ann Spain from Kilruane and Richard Bourke from Lorrha. Ann Heffernan from Cloughjordan is one of the three commentators.

Michael Kelly, Aileen Byrne, Anna Dillon, Siobhan Darby and Jack Maher from Nenagh form the Entrance Procession for the ceremony while Caoimhe Campion, Amy Whelan, Tara Kenny, Michaela Foley and Aoife Dalton from Saint Annes Special School Roscrea will perform the liturgical movements.

Noreen Spain from Kilruane will read from the Book of the Gospels while Lorraine Shaw from Roscrea will deliver the intercession prayers.

Today's mass will be led by the former Killaloe Bishop, and current Archbishop of Cashel and Emly Kieran O'Reilly

Father Monaghan says he's received a great welcome since he came to the area from Tuam.
